A simple cake can be made into an elegant beauty by adding decoratives pieces to it. I made some fondant flowers to put on top of the cake. Some decorations can add excessive sugars and calories, especially with buttercream icings. Using fondant gives you the choice of opting out the extra sugars as it can be easily removed before indulging.
